Day 1

Windhoek

Pickup of car at Windhoek Airport on arrival. Thereafter drive to your accommodation for offloading the luggage. Check-in time is normally not before 12h00. Do a sightseeing tour of Windhoek to discover the history of Windhoek. In the afternoon enjoy the swimming pool and relax.

Day 2

Windhoek – Waterberg Plateau National Park

After breakfast travel via Okahandja and visit the wood carver's market and possibly an ostrich farm. Proceed to the Waterberg Plateau Park. Upon arrival walk to the National Monument that commemorates the 70 soldiers of the German colonial forces. They died in 1904 during the famous battle against the Hereros.

Day 3

In the morning do one of the many walks. Thereafter we relax at the pool. In the afternoon depart for a 4-hour excursion (must be booked latest on arrival) with a safari vehicle to the top of the plateau, from where you have a beautiful view to the savannah below. You will drive through the game park, which was proclaimed in 1972 and might see giraffe, gnu, kudu, oryx or rhino.

Day 4

Waterberg Plateau Park – Etosha National Park

After breakfast drive directly to Namutoni in the famous Etosha National Park, where you will see various antelopes like springbok, kudu, impala, steenbok and oryx. You might be able to also observe Hyenas, jackals, cheetah, zebra or even lions. In the evening you will sit in front of a floodlit water hole where elephants normally come to drink.

Day 5

Today you will drive to the westerly point of the Etosha to look for more game. You will visit different water holes where the game is gathering. Before sunset you should check in at your rest camp. Here you may want to sit again close to the floodlit water hole and view animals until late.

Day 6

With sunrise you start your game drive. You are driving along the Salt Pan, which stretches for kilometers towards the North. After dinner you might see rhinos and elephants at the camp's waterhole.

Day 7

Etosha National Park – Vingerklip – Petrified Forest – Twyfelfontein

After breakfast leave Etosha from Okaukuejo and drive via Outjo into Damaraland where you should visit the 35 m high "Vingerklip", an impressive lone relic of prehistoric erosion rock formation. Thereafter carry on to the Petrified Forest, where you will have a guided tour to see fossil tree trunks that are approx. 200 million years old. Then head for the largest known stone age rock engravings and paintings of Twyfelfontein where you have a guided tour with a local Damara. Thereafter drive to the Organ Pipes (perpendicular dolerite pillars).

Day 8

Twyfelfontein – Cape Cross (Seal colony) – Swakopmund

This morning you are driving past the tin mining village Uis and the highest mountain Namibia's "The Brandberg" (2579m) to Cape Cross, where you will find a Cape Fur Seal colony of between 80000 and 100000 seals. Thereafter you will reach the fishing village Hentiesbaai and carry on to Swakopmund.

Day 9

Welwitschias – Oasis Goanikontes – Walvis Bay

Today your program should include an excursion into the desert where you will view the "Moon Landscape" and the "Oasis Goanikontes" impressive greenery in the middle of the desert. Thereafter you visit the "Welwitschia Mirabelis" – more than 1000 years old plants that can only be found in Western Namibia and Angola. Shortly before sunset you drive to Walvis Bay to watch flamingos and pelicans wading in the Walvis lagoon.

Day 10

Swakopmund

Day at leisure. Optionally you can participate in a flight over Swakopmund and the Skeleton Coast or visit a bushman village (by plane). You can take a dolphin and seal cruise in Walvis Bay, etc. Alternatively you may want to explore Swakopmund with its colonial buildings and its abundance of shops. Perhaps you may want to enjoy German cake in the well-known Cafe Anton or visit the museum or relax by the sea.

Day 11

Swakopmund – Namib Naukluft Park

Today you will travel through the Namib Naukluft Park. Upon arrival at the Kuiseb Canyon you could do a walk to an overhanging rock where two Germans hid during the Second World War and from where you have a nice view of the surrounding area. In the afternoon you reach your rest camp at the edge of the Namib Naukluft Park where you stay overnight.

Day 12

Optionally you can book a balloon flight with champagne breakfast. Before sunrise you head for Sossusvlei to walk on one of the highest and oldest sand dunes in the world. Thereafter discover the narrow gorge of the Sesriem Canyon. You continue your journey and will stay overnight en-route to Helmeringhausen.

Day 13

Guest Farm – Lüderitz

After breakfast you drive through the semi-desert towards the historic harbour town of Lüderitz. Just after the village of Aus you should look out for wild horses. In former times the German colonialists brought these horses over to Namibia to serve them during the time of war. Nowadays they are wild and have adapted to the semi desert so that they can survive. After arrival in Lüderitz drive to the "Felsenkirche", a church built 1906 on the rocks. From here you have a nice overview of the City. There are many quaint German-style architectures like the "Goerke Haus", the "Kremplin Haus" and many others.

Day 14

Kolmanskop (ghost town) – Fish River Canyon

In the morning you take a guided tour through the ghost town of Kolmanskop – a former diamond-mining village that flourished at the beginning of 1900 when diamonds were discovered in the area. Now it is deserted and half covered with desert sand. Afterwards you will proceed to the second largest canyon in the world, the Fish River Canyon.

Day 15

Hobas – Keetmanshoop – Quiver Tree Forest

After breakfast you drive to the main viewpoint of the canyon – Hobas, where you have a magnificent view into the bend of the Fish River. You than carry on via Naute dam to Keetmanshoop, where you can relax at the swimming pool of your guesthouse.

Later in the afternoon you visit the "playground if the giants" Namibia's bizarre wonder of nature and the "Quiver Tree Forest" – an impressive concentration of the Aloe dichotoma. This forest is a photographic dream – especially at sunset.

Day 16

Keetmanshoop – "Intu Afrika" – Kalahari Game Reserve

Today you have to drive Northeasterly to the "Intu Afrika" Kalahari Game Park, where on arrival you can relax at the swimming pool. In the afternoon you depart for a magnificent 4x4 Kalahari safari. You have the opportunity to view a variety of birds, game species like springbok, giraffes, zebra and gnu. The scenery with the red Kalahari sand and dark green bushes and trees is stunning.

Overnight in the Intu Afrika Kalahari Game Reserve in the "Camelthorn Lodge". DB&B + afternoon game drive with sundowner and morning walk with a bushman.

Day 17

Kalahari Game Park – Rehoboth – Windhoek

In the morning you walk with a bushman and your ranger through the soft, red sand and learn about the Bushmen's semi-desert survival secrets and way of life prior to the intrusion of modern man. You return for breakfast. Thereafter you will leave for Windhoek via Rehoboth. The first inhabitants of Rehoboth were the Nama people, who were later displaced by the Herero in the middle of the 19th century. Nowadays "Basters", an ethnic group of mixed Khoi-Khoi/Afrikaner heritage, inhabit Rehoboth. You carry on to Windhoek where the tour will end in the early afternoon either at the airport or in town, depending on your program.
